I often find myself saying that about biscuits! However I've noticed recently that I do the same with crafting. When I'm looking for ideas I'll do a Google image search or browse Pintrest and soon I'm wanting to make about 10 different versions of the original search item. This is what happened with the wreath!
I did a few searches for ideas for a wreath for Christmas. I found various ideas and just couldn't decide what to make. I love the ones wrapped in yarn. I also would love a felt ball one. Tbh I actually did decide to make one of those but then I worked out that it would take me hours to make all the balls and I really don't have time for it at the moment (assignment deadline looming!).
Luckily the crocheted one I made wasn't Christmassy (I've probably made that word up) in the traditional sense so I'll be able to leave it up all year round. I did need a Christmas one though. Do you remember this fabric I showed you
Well, in combination with A LOT MORE little squares, it's been turned into a lovely Christmas wreath.
I ended up in Hobbycraft looking for the polystyrene ring. My husband was supposed to pick some up for me from a craft shop in town but he forgot. When he went on Saturday, while I was at a tutorial, it turned out they hadn't even had the sizes I wanted delivered, which is how I ended up at Hobbycraft for them. I couldn't wait any longer as I had some time to make it on Sunday afternoon.
I'd decided on the biggest size they had (35cm) and at about 4pm I was cursing my decision as I cut more and more 3" squares and kept spotting more white polystyrene through the fabric. Eventually though, it looked totally covered and I love it.
It's super easy to make (just lots of cutting!) by poking the fabric in with a screwdriver. I followed the tutorial on the RosMadeMe blog.
Oh and in Hobbycraft I picked up yet another polystyrene ring so that I can make a yarn wrapped wreath too!

FO Friday: Tea Cosy
Well it should have arrived at my aunty's house today so I'm going to share it with you all.
The pattern for this was from A Passion For Patchwork and, despite double checking the measurements, the pattern piece was too big for the fabric. I have no idea whether the error is in the printing of the pattern piece but having checked the size of my aunty's teapot (small, dinky one luckily!) I just adjusted the pattern to fit the fabric.
The only thing I didn't do was attach a hanging loop.
It was all done from scrap pieces of fabric and wadding. The binding was leftover from the first quilt I made!
I decided to see if my larger teapot would fit in and it did so it will definitely be big enough for my aunty's one.
Here's hoping she likes it :-)

FO Friday: Superhero
I wasn't sure I would have a finished object to show you all but then I remembered Erin's class was having a superhero party. Last year when she was in nursery I made her a red hooded cape as part of a Red Riding Hood outfit so we found that and I said I'd make a top to go with it. I found her white leggings and her PE shorts to wear over the top. As the PE shorts were very dark navy I decided the logo for the top really needed to be black (no plain navy fabric) and red. I had a dig through my scraps box.
To make the logo I found a circular object about the size I wanted - I tried a bowl first but it was a little big and I ended up using a cd. I drew round it on double sided bondaweb. I then drew round it again so I could plan a lightening bolt going through it. Predictable? Yes, but I started making it after 8pm last night and only had until 9pm.
So here it is, all laid out ready for her:
No action pics yet, but hopefully I'll be able to add one later!
And since I didn't get chance to do a WIP pic on Wednesday, here's the other news...
I've finally got more than 100 hexagons so I've started sewing them together now too:
Originally I wasn't planning on doing flowers but then I saw someone's scrappy hexagon quilt (apologies I don't remember where I saw it) with some flowers in and thought it looked lovely so there will be random flowers in mine.

FO: Candle Cozy
I whipped this little item up yesterday afternoon with some scraps leftover from the ripple blanket. I've had the candle in glass jar for ages and spotted it yesterday up on a high shelf and thought "I could crochet a cover for that". I started with a row of foundation single crochet rather than the usual chain as it's easier to get the right size. If you've not done foundation single crochet before then this tutorial on the Futuregirl craft blog is fantastic, with really clear pictures. The rest is just rounds of US single crochet, finishing with a round of US half double crochet.
